Becky Shaw

Singer-songwriter Becky Shaw has always been the kid who wants to try everything - she plays guitar, drums, flute, harmonica, lap steel, ukulele, accordion … but her voice, “hypnotically beautiful, present in every word she delivers,” (Offbeat Magazine) takes center stage. Shaw has been a mainstay of Atlanta’s music scene since moving from Seattle in 1989. Her music blends Folk, Americana, Old Country, and Rock into something distinctly her own. As an openly LGBTQI+ artist, her songs are deeply informed by themes of identity, belonging, loss and connection.
Shaw sings in 70s powerhouse cover band Susi French Connection, explores Jazz standards with pianist Allen Broyles, and just finished an 18-year run writing and performing with Americana trio Just Roxie. She’s shared stages with the Indigo Girls, Caroline Herring, Suzy Bogguss & Michelle Malone, and played storied stages from Eddie’s Attic to CBGB’s to the Bluebird Café.
But it's her solo singer-songwriter work that reveals the full depth of her artistry. “Be the song,” Shaw says, when asked about her performance philosophy. It’s a simple mantra, but one she's spent decades trying to embody more fully with each show. Becky Shaw is not just singing songs – she’s living them with you.
