Formed in late 2010 on the stage of Tipitinas, Boukou Groove is a New Orleans Power funk, soul, and jam Trio composed of veteran-vocalist/keyboardist/ & Moog Bassist, Grammy Nominated Donnie Sundal + Grammy Winner, NOLA rhythm guitarist, Derwin “Big D” Perkins with a World class pocket drummer.

The combination of Big D’s gripping New Orleans funk guitar, Donnie Sundal’s wailing keyboards plus “blue-eyed soul” voice  have lit up audiences around the world. That same chemistry has been distilled into their albums A LIL’ BOUKOU IN YOUR CUP (2012), LET THE GROOVE RIDE (2015).

The groove has continued with the band making their debut at the 50th New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival  -2019 with the cut “Never Steal Our Thunder”. In 2022, 2 singles   “Ain’t No Lie” - 180,000 views on YouTube and “Going With The Flow”. In October of 2023 the band, along with Juicy Records in Amsterdam, Netherlands  released a Full Length VINYL “Groovin” with a hand picked selection of Songs from Boukou Groove’s first 2 Albums.

Donnie Sundal’s 2023 Grammy nomination is for his work with Sam Bush - “Radio John - Songs of John Hartford” &  Derwin Perkins’s Grammy is with Jon Cleary’s “Go Go Juice”.
