Dion Jones & The Neon Tears

grand-boulevard.jpg

Dion Jones and the Neon Tears is a country rock band based in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. The band’s influences include modern-day singer-songwriters Chris Stapleton, Jamey Johnson, and Tyler Childers and some of the great stalwarts of country music, including Hank Williams, Delbert McClinton, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson.

Songwriter and band leader Jones, 33, grew up in the now bustling 30A area when it was still a relatively sleepy beach town. As a kid, he toyed around with the guitar, but his real focus was athletics: football, baseball, soccer. One day, while attending community college on a baseball scholarship, he walked by the music hall during a powerful choir rehearsal. The sound grabbed him, and his childhood musical roots were once again realized. He auditioned for the choir the next semester and hasn’t looked back since.

In 2020, with the encouragement of his friends in the music industry, he decided to start his own band. Backed by a tight-knit crew of local musicians, Dion Jones and the Neon Tears bring their original take on country rock to the stage with high-energy, sing-along, and dance-along performances.
