Singer and songwriter Gileah Taylor is a native of Florida’s Emerald Coast. Her work shows that she is well acquainted with the beaches and bays of her hometown, as they set the scene in so many of her songs. The plot lines, however, often deviate from the sunshine and blue skies Florida is known for. For the 2024 30A Songwriters Festival, she plans on debuting songs from her upcoming record Gileah Taylor’s Slow Parade. Many of these songs were written after she watched the music documentary Echo in the Canyon, and came across as an impassioned love-letter to the era-defining sounds of Laurel Canyon. Her new record will be released in late spring 2024 on Velvet Blue Music, an independent record label out of southern California. Gileah’s most recent project was with the alternative rock band Leem of Earth, which also was inspired by a former musical era. Her songs touch on longtime love, the inexplicable feeling of hope in times of loss and the passing of time, written with the poetic clarity of an artist reborn.
