Gileah Taylor
Floridian songbird Gileah Taylor’s work shows that she is well acquainted with the beaches and bays of her home state, as they set the scene in so many of her songs. The plot lines, however, often deviate from the sunshine and blue skies Florida is known for. She returns to the 30A Songwriters Festival with a new full-length record, Slow Parade, released in 2024 on southern California label Velvet Blue Music.
Bearded Gentleman Music says: “Taylor has this soothing, world-weary alto that I find impressive... it’s care-worn and accessible...by turning the focus of her songs outward, she avoids coming across as maudlin or twee, which deepens her impact. By striking a keen balance between piano- and guitar-led tunes, she knows when and how to let her voice breathe. If you’re in the mood for a contemporary artist channeling the vintage sounds of Emmylou Harris, Over the Rhine, and Sam Phillips” you’ll enjoy songs from Slow Parade.
Gileah has been a live guest on NPR’s Echoes. You can hear her song "Going Home" in the Netflix original series 13 Reasons Why. Her newest record was produced by Nashville brothers Gideon Klein and Gabe Klein, and features a string quartet led by Gideon on cello. Gileah also releases music with her band Leem of Earth, and has several new musical offerings on the horizon in 2025.
