Rachel Laven


Rachel Laven is an “outlaw folk” artist whose music blends Texas songwriting traditions with classic country, roots, blues, and bluegrass. Rooted in authenticity, her sound reflects years of performing and writing within Texas’s rich musical culture. Raised in a musical family in San Antonio, Laven began performing early, writing her first song at ten and recording a debut album with her family band, The Lavens, by thirteen. Her foundation in heartfelt storytelling and craftsmanship has defined her career.
In 2016, she won the prestigious New Folk Songwriting Competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival and released her sophomore solo album, Love & Luccheses, praised for its warm vocals and lyrical depth exploring love, longing, and resilience. Since then, she has toured extensively across the U.S. and Europe, captivating audiences with her genuine stage presence and evocative storytelling.
Now based in Nashville, Laven continues to write, record, and perform while working on her third full-length album, Hard Truths, which delves into grief, growth, and vulnerability. With a voice that’s both commanding and comforting, Rachel Laven has established herself as a compelling and authentic voice in the contemporary Americana landscape.
