The Kennedys, Pete and Maura, are a married couple who trace their musical roots back to membership in Nanci Griffith’s Blue Moon Orchestra. They advanced from side persons for Nanci to opening act, before launching their own career as a songwriting duo with 1995’s award-winning “River of Fallen Stars.” Nearly three decades and seventeen albums on, they have just released “Headwinds.” The title embodies their blend of optimism with hard-hitting realism. The symbolism of struggling against headwinds is a lyrical expression of their hope that all of us as a community will be able to come together and overcome the social, political, and climate crises that we share across the globe.
