The Sand Ole Opry with Mike Whitty
2013 South Walton Performer of the Year-by Visit South Walton Mike Whitty fell in love
with the Beaches of South Walton on his first visit, when he performed here with the
band Pale Blue Dot in the summer of 2009. Four years later, Visit South Walton
awarded him 2013 Performer of the Year. His new cd, Sunshine State is a high energy
tip of the hat to the early days of rock and roll, country, and beach music. Mike moved to
the Grayton Beach area in 2009, where he lives with his wife, Dawn, and son, Chap.
Mike Whitty performs in the 30A area regularly, and has participated in the 30A
Songwriters Festival since its inception. Mike Whitty has been entertaining crowds for
25 years across 49 states. He was signed in his early twenties to RCA records in
Nashville, as a primary songwriter, bassist and vocalist for the Thompson Brothers
Band. His songs have appeared in The Diary of A Wimpy Kid, MTVs The Real World,
and EA sports John Madden Football. He has warmed up the stage for Willie Nelson,
The B52s, The Black Keys, and Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones, among many others .
He has shared the stage with George Jones, Steve Earle, Allison Moorer, Radney
Foster and Bill LLoyd He currently performs up and down the Emerald coast as a solo
artist and his band The Courtyard Saints and hosts Local favorite event, The Sand Ole
Opry.
